The Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) tried to whitewash Pakistan’s image in the world by using its role in the ceasefire between the United States and Iran. They wanted to portray Pakistan as the ambassador of “world peace."
On Wednesday, the United States and Iran reached an agreement to suspend hostilities, with Pakistan serving as a go-between. Pakistan quickly attempted to utilize the truce as a tool on the cricket pitch during the PSL match between Peshawar Zalmi and Hyderabad Kingsmen. However, the attempt failed to persuade social media users.
The increase in fuel prices as a result of the West Asian conflict had a significant impact on Pakistan. It also had an effect on the PSL, which was relocated behind closed doors to conserve fuel. However, when Pakistan brokered a temporary ceasefire between the warring countries, PSL organizers used the opportunity to improve their reputation.
“Pakistan takes pride in furthering world peace, and as a powerful symbol of world peace, we will be releasing a beautiful white dove,” Urooj Mumtaz, the presenter at the toss, said ahead of the PSL match.
The two captains, Babar Azam and Marnus Labuschagne, then released a white dove, a sign of peace. Labuschagne couldn't stop laughing during the pre-toss hijinks.

This showmanship by the PSL organizer before the match didn’t go unnoticed, and fans on social media were not prepared to believe the tale, as the post was inundated with memes and criticism. Some of the fans also compared it to the pigeon-releasing scene from the Indian OTT series Panchayat.
