Indian cricket star Rinku Singh suffered a huge personal loss as his father, Khanchand Singh, lost his battle with cancer and breathed his last on Friday morning at the Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida.
He was being treated for fourth-stage liver cancer but passed away on February 27. Meanwhile, Rinku was in Chennai with the Indian team on Thursday for their vital T20 World Cup Super 8s match against Zimbabwe.
Rinku had to rush home from the T20 World Cup earlier this week to be with his family when his father's condition deteriorated during India's first Super 8 match against South Africa.
Rinku returned to Chennai quickly to join the Indian side ahead of the match against Zimbabwe on Thursday, following a brief visit to see his father. However, he failed to make the starting lineup for India's match against Zimbabwe because Sanju Samson was chosen to open alongside Abhishek Sharma.
Meanwhile, several videos on social media went viral, showing Rinku Singh giving a shoulder to his father’s body as he took them to perform the last rites. There were tears in Rinku’s eyes as he was seen wearing a blue cap and black t-shirt, surrounded by police, family members, and several fans.
