Jasprit Bumrah, arguably India’s greatest-ever fast bowler, celebrated the 10th anniversary of his India debut with a heartfelt post on Instagram, in which he shared highlights of his career in blue, right from his debut to current times.
Jasprit Bumrah made his India debut in an ODI against Australia on January 23, 2016. His T20I debut came on January 26, also against Australia, while his Test debut came against South Africa on January 5, 2018.
Bumrah has 234 Test wickets in 52 matches, with an average of 19.79 and a strike rate of 42.87. In 89 One-Day Internationals, he has 149 wickets at 23.55, and in 83 Twenty20 Internationals, he has 103 wickets at 18.17, making him one of the few bowlers with 100+ wickets in all three forms.
He has also reached the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings, a first for an Indian fast bowler. He was also ranked no. 1 in ODI and T20I rankings as well. Bumrah has also captained India in Tests and T20Is. He was also the Player of the Tournament in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 win.
He posted a video of some of his best memories on the cricket pitch, from his first wicket of Steve Smith to winning the 2024 men's T20 World Cup with India as Player of the Series. The clippings showed him at the winning parade in Barbados and again in Mumbai when the squad returned home.
He thanked God and his family for helping him go ‘against assumptions, opinions, and perceptions.’
“10 years of living the dream of the child who fell in love with the sport that made him feel alive like nothing in this world ever could. The journey of going against assumptions, opinions, and perceptions and keeping the belief alive continues, with the love and support of family and God. Waheguruji da shukr eda he baba ji mehraan bhariyaan hath rakheen. Satnam waheguru (By the grace of Waheguru, thanks be to Him. May Baba Ji keep His blessings upon us. Satnam Waheguru,” Bumrah captioned the post.
