Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 14-year-old sensation from the Indian U19 team, had set the U19 Asia Cup 2025 on fire with a brilliant 171-run knock in his team’s tournament opener against the UAE a couple of days back. He was the person of interest as India U19 faced off against Pakistan U19 on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
Pakistan captain Farhan Yousuf won the toss and chose to bowl first, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was the first Indian wicket to fall at the score of 29 runs. Mohammad Sayyam, a left-arm pacer, dismissed him in the fourth over.
Sayyam bowled aggressively in his first spell, regularly bothering the youngster, who appeared nervous at the crease. On the second ball of the fourth over, Sooryavanshi clipped a slower delivery back to the bowler, who took a relatively simple catch. Sooryavanshi was left stunned at his dismissal.
Mohammad Sayyam erupted in a wild celebration after taking the coveted wicket. His teammates surrounded him almost instantly, celebrating as if they had turned the game on its head. Inside the dugout, there were high-fives and fist pumps as Pakistan realised the importance of eliminating an in-form Sooryavanshi early in the game.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, Pakistan's Under-19 coach and former Champions Trophy captain, was also ecstatic, cheering the breakthrough from the sidelines.
