The ongoing second Ashes 2025-26 saw Marnus Labuschagne give the Australian fans something to remember. The moment came on day two of the ongoing second Test in Brisbane, a pink-ball Test, and Labuschagne pulled off perhaps one of the best catches in the Ashes series.
The incident happened after the last wicket pair of Joe Root and Jofra Archer had frustrated Australia to no end. Archer made 38 in 36 balls, adding 70 runs for the last wicket with Joe Root, who remained not out for 138 with 15 fours and one six as England made 334 in their first innings.
Brendan Doggett, a right-arm fast bowler, tried to disturb Archer, who had wagged impressively towards the close of Day 1, with a short-pitched ball.
Even though it was only the third over of the day, Archer persisted and attempted a huge pull shot. He couldn't muster the strength required to get past the boundary rope.
Labuschagne completed the catch by sprinting over from mid-wicket and launching into a full-length dive to his right as the ball sailed towards an empty space at deep fine leg. The fielder stuck out his right hand while diving full length to take an amazing catch.
England’s first innings ended on 334 runs, with Joe Root being the top scorer, while Mitchell Starc was the chief destroyer with 6/75.

In response, Brydon Carse dismissed Travis Head for 33 runs, but Jake Weatherhald hit a fifty and has done well with Marnus Labuschagne, adding 69 runs for the second wicket at the time of writing this piece.
