Shreyas Iyer, Indian batting superstar and ODI vice-captain, is currently out of action as he recovers from his spleen injury. Iyer suffered the injury during the third ODI of the series against Australia in Sydney recently.
He underwent an emergency medical procedure and was under observation in Sydney before being deemed fit enough to fly back to India. According to reports, Shreyas Iyer has consulted with doctors in Mumbai and has been advised to rest and engage in minimal exercise.
It appears that Iyer will be out of action for 2-3 months and will likely miss the South Africa and New Zealand series at home, as well as possibly the T20 World Cup 2026.
A video of Shreyas Iyer is going viral on social media, in which Iyer is being mobbed by fans, and even the security personnel who are there to protect them try to take a selfie with him. The personnel are supposed to clear the way for Iyer and keep the mobbing fans away.
Their lack of commitment to their duty and asking for a selfie led to Iyer getting angry and telling the security person to do his job properly instead of taking selfies.
"Bhai tumhara kaam hai hatana (Brother, your job is to clear the crowd)," says Iyer in the video.
