India’s 14-year-old sensation, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, has wowed everyone with his aggressive style of batting. He first gained fame for his first-ball six on his IPL debut in the 2025 edition and then for the fastest IPL ton by an Indian in just 35 balls.
He bettered his own record in the ongoing Asia Cup Rising Stars T20 tournament, as he slammed a 32-ball ton against the UAE in India A’s opening match. He made 144 runs as India A recorded an easy win. Everyone wanted to see what Sooryavanshi would do when facing Pakistan Shaheens next.
And it was fireworks again as Vaibhav slammed 45 in 28 balls, including five fours and three sixes. Despite his knock and Naman Dhir’s 35, India only managed 136 runs in 19 overs, as Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood picked two wickets each with their spin. Sadaqat then hammered 79* in 47 balls to lead Pak Shaheens to a comfortable 8-wicket win.
During India A’s innings, there was constant chatter between Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Pakistan’s Ubaid Shah. The 19-year-old pacer was trying to get under the skin of the 14-year-old batter by mocking him whenever Vaibhav missed a shot or the ball went to a fielder.
But Suryavanshi gave it back to the pacer in the third over of the match. The hitter finally had enough of Shah's taunting after hitting an inside-out drive that went right to the mid-off fielder. He straightforwardly asked Shah to stop making fun of him and instead concentrate on his bowling.
"Ball daal na, ball daal. (Bowl the ball, just bowl the ball)," Suryavanshi was heard as saying on the stump mic.
And on the very next ball, Vaibhav played the same shot, this time in the air for a thumping boundary. The left-hander approached his opening partner after striking the boundary, but the Pakistani pacer was unable to respond as Suryavanshi ultimately had the last laugh.
