Abhishek Sharma, the Indian batter’s mentor, and legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, revealed a peculiar habit of the exciting Indian opener. Abhishek has been in a rich vein of form in T20Is since the start of 2025 and was Player of the Series in a recent series in Australia.

Yuvraj revealed a little-known fact about the young batter: anyone can steal anything from Abhishek, except his bats. According to the former cricket player, the young man frequently gives false information about how many bats he owns and is loath to part with his willows.

“You can take anything from Abhishek Sharma, but nobody can take a bat from him. Ye mar jayega, pit jayega, ro dega par apna bat nahi dega (He will fight for it, even cry, but won’t give away his bat). Even if he has 10 bats, he’ll still say, I only have two. He took all my bats, but he never gives his own," Yuvraj stated, as Abhishek smiled.  

On Saturday, India defeated Australia 2-1 in the five-match Twenty20 International series. When bad weather ended the match, the visitors blasted to 52 for no loss in 4.5 overs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav praised Abhishek's friendship with Shubman Gill, saying they make everyone smile and are learning the various aspects of handling different match circumstances in the shortest time.

“When Abhishek and Shubman bat together at the top of the order, they put a smile on the faces of fans. If the wicket is difficult, like the last game in Gold Coast, they read the wicket well.
