Bangladesh tailender Taskin Ahmed had his heart broken in the cruellest way possible in the 1st T20I against the West Indies at Chattogram. The West Indies had won the toss and chosen to bat first.
Shai Hope (46*) and Rovman Powell (44*) were the main scorers, while Alick Athanaze (34) and Brandon King (33) contributed as well, as West Indies made 165/3 in 20 overs. In the first match of the series, Bangladesh was unable to match the West Indies' vigor and strength, failing in every area.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib (33) and Towhid Hridoy (28) were the main scorers for Bangladesh. However, the highlight of their innings was the dismissal of Taskin Ahmed.
With 17 runs needed off the penultimate ball, Bangladesh's chances were already fading when Romario Shepherd bowled a full delivery. Taskin moved deep to heave it over mid-wicket, sending it soaring past the ropes, but he was out.
He had gone too far back, clipping the stumps and displacing the bails as he made contact with the ball over the ropes. Taskin couldn’t believe that he had stepped onto his stumps, and even Shepherd smiled at him. Accepting his fate, Taskin just took off his helmet and shook hands with the West Indies players.
