Mumbai’s Sarfaraz Khan was snubbed by the BCCI selectors as they announced the India A squads for the two matches against South Africa A on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
Rishabh Pant, who is rehabilitating from a fractured foot sustained during the Manchester Test earlier this year, has been selected as captain of the India A team, with Sai Sudharsan as his deputy.
The selection committee chose Devdutt Padikkal, Ayush Mhatre, Rajat Patidar, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, and other candidates; however, Sarfaraz was unexpectedly passed by.
Sarfaraz's exclusion from the red-ball India A team has become a topic of discussion, given that he performed admirably for the India A team during their England tour, scoring 92 runs in the first unofficial match.
An injury led to him missing the remainder of the matches, but he has used the time to enhance his conditioning and has even lost a lot of weight.
He returned to the Ranji Trophy and recently made 74 for Mumbai, but still, there was no place for Sarfaraz Khan in the India A squad.
Fans were furious at the BCCI selection committee for ignoring Sarfaraz Khan for the India A vs. South Africa A red-ball series and showed their anger on social media.
