WATCH- ‘Your father will get cancer’ – Azam Khan reveals vile threats from toxic Babar Azam fans

Babar Azam is currently the Test captain of Pakistan.

Azam Khan called out toxicity of Babar Azam fans | XAzam Khan, a Pakistani keeper-batter, has shared his experience with toxic Babar Azam fans who called for his father’s death in case he didn’t let the ace Pakistani batter score a century in a game in Australia.

Appearing in a podcast, Azam Khan said that fandom in Pakistan cricket has reached very abusive levels in recent times. He recalled fans cursing for harm to his father and mother on Instagram once he was playing with Babar.

Azam stated that he had no problem with Babar as a person, but he used his fan base as "toxic" and "uneducated." Son of former Pakistani batter Moin Khan, Azam talked about the exact kind of messages he gets.

"Our social media is really nasty. One of Babar's fans, I was batting with him (Babar) in Ireland; he was at 75 or something. We needed 40 runs. Somebody commented on my Instagram picture that said, "If you stop Babar's century, your mother will die, and your father will get cancer, something like that," Azam revealed on the Backward Point Cricket Podcast.

"Our cricketers have uneducated fanbases. Nothing wrong with Babar and his game, but his fanbase is very toxic. When you see those things, why would you even say that?" he added.

28-year-old Azam Khan has appeared in 14 T20Is for Pakistan, making 88 runs. After gaining fame in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as a power hitter and a wicket-keeper, Azam was chosen for the senior national team in 2021.

He played in Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 match, where Pakistan lost in a super over against the co-host USA. This match turned out to be his last match for Pakistan in international cricket to date.

After resigning as captain in all formats in 2023, he was appointed captain of the T20 World Cup 2024. He was appointed Test captain again in July 2026, replacing Shan Masood.
