WATCH- Ajinkya Rahane names his list of top 5 current T20 batters; Abhishek Sharma only Indian picked

Rahane himself played 20 T20Is for India and over 300 T20s in his career.

Nicholas Pooran and Heinrich Klaasen | IPL-BCCIAjinkya Rahane, former Indian cricketer, was asked to pick the five best T20 batters from the current lot. In his list, Rahane picked only one Indian batter, Abhishek Sharma, while picking one South African, one West Indian, one from England, and one from New Zealand.

Rahane played 20 T20Is for India, scoring 375 runs with one fifty, while making 7968 runs in 308 T20s with 2 centuries and 56 fifties. In the IPL, Rahane made 5367 runs in 212 games, with a strike rate of 125.60, with 2 centuries and 35 fifties.

He first picked England’s Jos Buttler and New Zealand’s Finn Allen in his list of five current best T20 batters. Buttler has scored 15062 runs in 529 T20 games, with a strike rate of 147.60, including 9 centuries and 108 fifties.

On the other hand, Finn Allen has 6060 runs in 218 T20 games, with a strike rate of 175.85, including 7 centuries and 36 fifties.

“Number 5 for me: Jos Buttler… greatest white-ball cricketer for the England team. Played with him in the Rajasthan Royals; he’s with Gujarat Titans. Very dangerous.

Number 4 for me: Finn Allen. Again, a quality top-order opening batter, very dangerous. Played with him, great guy, but a very dangerous batter. For me, number 3 is Nicholas Pooran. Left-hander, dangerous. Again, spinners and fast bowlers can change the game any time. Number 2: Klaasen… probably 3, 4 seasons, 5 seasons—how well he has developed his game in the format, how dangerous he has become, or how many matches he has won in different situations. And then number one: Abhishek Sharma. Again, his form, his consistency, his intent. And I think the maturity that he has shown in the last one or two years is amazing," Rahane said in a video on Cricbuzz.

Nicholas Pooran has 11,520 runs in 485 T20s with 5 centuries and 71 fifties with a strike rate of 148.53. Then, at the second spot, Rahane went for Heinrich Klaasen, who made 7271 runs in 311 T20 games, with a strike rate of 151.85, with 3 centuries and 46 fifties.

Rahane’s No. 1 pick, Abhishek Sharma, has 6431 runs in 216 T20 games, with a strike rate of 178.14, and 10 centuries and 40 fifties to his name.
