Former India pacer-turned-commentator Vivek Razdan was extremely critical of Pakistan women’s captain Fatima Sana for giving a send-off to Shafali Verma after dismissing her during the recent game between the arch-rivals in the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2026.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana won the toss and decided to bat first. Muneeba Ali and Shawaal Zulfiqar added 27 runs for the first wicket, but Pakistan's women thereafter collapsed dramatically. Muneeba and Shawaal were the only batters to reach double figures as Pakistan was dismissed for 55 in 18.1 overs.

Shree Charani and Prema Rawat each grabbed three wickets, while Deepti Sharma claimed two.

In response, despite Fatima Sana taking three wickets, Harmanpreet Kaur's 18 runs and Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma's 12 runs apiece helped India reach the mark with 7 wickets in hand and 8.4 overs.

The biggest talking point was Sana's violent send-off to India's opening batter, Shafali Verma, on the third delivery of the second over of the game.

Sana produced a solid-length delivery, and the ball bounced little more than the young Indian opener expected. She attempted to work the delivery through the leg side but only got a leading edge that went back straight to the bowler.

The Pakistan captain then made no mistake in grabbing the catch and then gestured with her hand, not hesitating to show Shafali the route back to the pavilion. However, the Indian opening batter did not react and simply marched back to the dressing room.

However, Fatima’s gesture drew sharp reactions from Vivek Razdan on commentary, who pointed out that her team had been bowled out for 55 runs, and yet she gave Shafali a send-off.

“Okay, you are showing her the way out. Your entire team just scored 55 runs, and now you're sending Shafali Verma back,” commentator Vivek Razdan said on air at that time on Sony Sports.  

Meanwhile, Shafali Verma, who scored 12 runs, became the youngest and the fastest batter to surpass the 3,000 runs mark in women's T20Is. Shafali achieved the feat at the age of 22 years and 220 days, beating Ireland’s Gaby Lewis, who was 24 years and 347 days old when she reached 3,000 T20I runs.

She also surpassed the 3000-run landmark in just 2,182 balls, bettering Australia's former captain Alyssa Healy's previous record of 2,321 deliveries.

India women have qualified for the semi-finals, while Pakistan women will face Hong Kong women next.
