Shubman Gill is the natural successor to the legendary Virat Kohli for India, especially in ODI cricket. Gill regularly refers to Kohli as his guru and idol, and the two batters' friendship has captivated spectators both on and off the field.
But thanks to Kohli's small son, Akaay, Gill would never have imagined himself in a whole different role associated with the legend.
Gill was amusingly referred to as Kohli's son's "uncle" in a widely shared Instagram reel. Gill couldn't help but join in on the fun as cricket fans showered the comments section with memes and laughter.
A content creator plays Akaay's teacher in the viral reel. In the humorous video, the fictitious teacher asks that Akaay bring his famous parents, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, to class the next day as retribution for a small transgression.
The premise is cleverly twisted when the inventor blushes and instructs the youngster to invite his "uncle" Shubman Gill along.
Gill added to the humor by leaving a comment just beneath the video, which instantly caused a stir on social media. Tagging Virat Kohli, Gill wrote, "Bhai, dw I gotchu" (Brother, don't worry, I've got you covered).
Kohli and Gill are next expected to share the dressing room as India's ODI team takes on West Indies in a 3-match series, starting September 27.
