
Abhishek Sharma lit up the opening game of the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 between his Amritsar Soormas and Mohali Kings on August 30. Mohali Kings captain Ramandeep Singh won the toss and chose to bowl first.
And Abhishek Sharma fired off from ball one, hitting 6 fours and 7 sixes in his brilliant knock of 77 runs in 26 balls. He added 100 runs in only 5 overs, with Sahaj Dhawan hitting 45 in 18 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Naman Dhir also contributed 47 runs in 22 balls with 5 sixes and one four.
But the highlight was Abhishek Sharma, whose runs came at a strike rate of 296.15 as he teed off brilliantly against both pacers and spinners. He set up a brilliant platform for his team, and other batters contributed as well, as Soormas made 258 in 19.5 overs.
Abhishek also contributed with the ball for Soormas, picking up one wicket. He bowled the first over of the run chase and dismissed Manpreet Johal with the fourth ball.
However, Anmolpreet Singh of Mohali Kings had other ideas and hammered 133 in 51 balls with 10 fours and 12 sixes, laying a platform for the huge chase. Then captain Ramandeep Singh made 69* off 40 balls with 9 fours and 1 six, as Kings made 262/5 with 3 balls to spare and won the game by 5 wickets.
