Former India cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara revealed a funny superstition related to ex-India spinner and his teammate R Ashwin during a conversation. Pujara and Ashwin played together for the Indian team for more than a decade.

Ashwin gave multiple game-winning efforts for India and ended his international career with 765 wickets in all three formats. In addition to his accomplishments with the ball, he made many significant hits with the bat. One of Ashwin's superstitious practices during games was recently revealed by Pujara.

Ashwin would always ask Pujara to get his cap and give it to the umpire before he started delivering an over, according to Pujara, who disclosed that Ashwin thought of him as his lucky charm.

"When Ashwin used to come to bowl, he wanted me to take his cap and give it to the umpire. Whenever he wasn't getting any wickets, he would look around the field in search of me. He felt that if I took the cap from him and gave it to the umpire, he might just have a chance of getting a wicket," Pujara said on Sony Sports.

As Pujara's video went viral on social media, Ashwin reposted it on his X account and acknowledged the revelation with a couple of emojis.

Cheteshwar Pujara made 7195 runs in 103 Tests at an average of 43.60, including 19 centuries and 35 fifties, with the highest score of 206*. Ashwin, on the other hand, took 537 Test wickets in 106 games, and 156 wickets in 116 ODIs. He also picked 72 wickets in 65 T20Is.

Ashwin was part of India’s 2011 World Cup and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy wins as well.
