The Manchester Giants became the Hundred Men’s 2026 champions as they defeated the Trent Rockets on August 16 in the final of the tournament, which was played at Lord’s.
Jos Buttler, captain of Manchester Super Giants, won the toss and chose to field first. Aneurin Donald top-scored with 38, Ben Duckett made 31, and Lewis Gregory made 32 runs as Trent Rockets made 158/8 in 100 balls. Noor Ahmad took 3 wickets, and Sonny Baker took 2 wickets for Manchester.
In response, Tim Seifert gave a brilliant launchpad for Manchester as he slammed 72 in 38 balls with 7 sixes and 4 fours. Leus du Plooy (27*), Jos Buttler (23), and Paul Walter (22) contributed well as Manchester made 162/5 in 98 balls and won the game by 5 wickets.
This was the first win for the newly rechristened franchise, Manchester Super Giants, who were previously known as Manchester Originals before Sanjiv Goenka and co. took over the ownership.
Meanwhile, Jos Buttler, the captain, was seen having fun with the Hundred Trophy in the dressing room. He was seen flexing his muscles; he mocked lifting the trophy with just one hand. He then showed great relief when he finally lifted the trophy.
