Suryakumar Yadav might not be the India T20I captain anymore and might have lost his place in the squad as well, but it seems like he is leaving no stone unturned in winning back his spot in the Men in Blue side.

Soon after winning the T20 World Cup 2026 for India as the captain, Suryakumar Yadav was surprisingly removed as the skipper and lost his spot as well, with his poor form with the bat being given as the reason. The BCCI selection committee moved on from him and named Shreyas Iyer as the new India T20I captain.

Despite being one of the three Indian captains to win the T20 World Cup, Surya's batting form has long been a source of concern. The selectors most likely made the crucial decision after monitoring his performance in the IPL 2026, where his returns were minimal.

The selection committee chairman, Ajit Agarkar, clarified that the choice was made in light of Surya's present batting performance as well as the upcoming two-year cycle that would precede the T20 World Cup and the Olympics in Los Angeles, when cricket will return after a 128-year hiatus.

Meanwhile, Surya posted a video of himself batting and jogging at the Vasoo Paranjape Cricket Academy only hours after India swept Zimbabwe 3-0 in a T20I series.

“Sunday was fun. Quick run. Batted around 1000 balls for 3 hours. Felt good," Surya wrote on X.
