Zadran played for Afghanistan in 44 ODIs and 36 T20Is between 2009 and 2020 and was one of their premier pacers in their formative years.

After being diagnosed with stage four hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a rare and potentially fatal illness that causes severe inflammation and can harm the bone marrow, liver, spleen, and lymph nodes, Zadran was receiving treatment in the NCR-Delhi area.

Since May, he had been admitted to the critical care unit (ICU). His health issues started in October of last year after medical professionals recommended that he travel to India for more advanced therapy. His visa was expedited with the help of ACB chairman Mirwais Ashraf and Afghanistan star Rashid Khan, enabling him to be admitted to a hospital in Delhi on January 18.
