The second and final T20I of the two-match series between Ireland and India was played in Belfast on June 28, 2026. Ireland led the series 1-0 after winning the first match, also in Belfast, by 34 runs.

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl first. Ireland lost their openers Tim Tector and Ross Adair for cheap, while captain Lorcan Tucker made 15. But Harry Tector played an amazing knock of 53 in 47 balls with 5 fours and 1 six.

Ben Calitz made 37, and George Dockrell made 17 as Ireland finished on 154/8 in 20 overs.

India had the worst possible start as openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma got out for golden ducks, Ishan Kishan fell for 12 runs, and Shreyas Iyer made 10 runs. Tilak Varma stemmed the fall of wickets with a brilliant 55 and found support in Axar Patel (14) and Shivam Dube (20).

Though Harshit Rana slammed 21 in 10 balls and Prince Yadav hit a six off the last ball of the Indian innings, Ireland won the game by 1 run. With this, Ireland created history by clean sweeping India 2-0 for the very first time in T20I cricket.

Jai Moondra picked 3/32 and was named the Player of the Match and Player of the Series in his debut outing for Ireland.

The Indian cricket fraternity was stunned by India’s surrender to Ireland in the T20I series and the poor start to the Gambhir-Shreyas era.
