WATCH- “Boys not targeting anyone”- SL A captain Arachchige on if Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be a target in final

Sooryavanshi and SL's Vishen Halambage got into a physical altercation during league stage game.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi | SLCIndia A and Sri Lanka A will clash in the final of the ongoing tri-series in Sri Lanka on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Dambulla. Their last encounter in the league stage ended in a thrilling tie, after which a super over was played after much argument from both sides.

Sri Lanka ended up winning the super over, and the aftermath saw India’s Suryansh Shedge and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi getting into a heated altercation with Sri Lanka A players. Sri Lanka’s Vishen Halambage and Sooryavanshi even got into a physical altercation before officials and players separated them.

Before the final, Sri Lanka A captain Sahan Arachchige quickly dissociated his team from any notion of attacking specific people, particularly Sooryavanshi.

The boys are not targeting anyone or anything. They are just enjoying themselves. In a close game like a Super Over, emotions come out. That’s normal. There are many experienced players on this team. They know what to do, and they know how to play,” said Arachchige to Sportstar.

Arachchige emphasized that Sri Lanka A is still more concerned with its internal procedures than with outside stories about players like Sooryavanshi.

The boys are doing very well, and we’re looking forward to having a great match in the final. With the batting, there is no issue. And with the bowling, every fast bowler and spinner is doing very well. I think we are in good shape,” he added.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues to be the focus of attention despite Sri Lanka A's efforts to maintain composure after the previous match, in which players from both sides exchanged words during a high-stress finale, and tempers flared.

Arachchige reaffirmed, though, that his team is not putting any more emphasis on individuals going into the final.

There are a lot of experienced players in this team. They know what to do and how to play. They are doing very well, and I think they will play the next match in the same way,” he added.
