On May 31, 2026, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) faced off in the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The captain of the RCB, Rajat Patidar, won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Just 22 runs were added for the first wicket by the renowned GT opening duo of Shubman Gill (10) and Sai Sudharsan (12). In an attempt to stop the loss of wickets, Jos Buttler scored 19 in 23 balls, and Nishant Sindhu scored 20.
GT was able to score 155/8 in 20 overs thanks to Washington Sundar's 50*. Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar each claimed two wickets for RCB, while Rasikh Salam stood out with 3/27.
In response, Venkatesh Iyer hammered 32 runs in 16 balls with an injured leg, while Virat Kohli anchored the other end. RCB lost a few quick wickets with Devdutt Padikkal (1), Rajat Patidar (15), and Krunal Pandya (1). However, Tim David (24) added 41 runs with Kohli to bring calmness back in the RCB camp.
However, it was Virat Kohli, who carried the RCB innings on one leg, suffering from a leg injury, and scored 75* in 42 balls, with 9 fours and 3 sixes to his name. RCB won the IPL 2026 final with 5 wickets in hand.
With this win, RCB became the third team, after Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, to win the IPL title in two successive years.
The cricket fraternity was all praises for Virat Kohli on social media and RCB for dominating the IPL throughout the season.
