Rahul Dravid was head coach of the Indian team which toured Sri Lanka.

Rahul Dravid | BCCI TwitterFormer India captain Rahul Dravid was appointed as the head coach of the Indian team which toured Sri Lanka for a white-ball series recently. This was this first stint with the senior team as a coach, though he had previously coached India A and had guided the India U19 team to World Cup victory in 2018.

The batting great has brushed away speculations of him becoming the next India head coach on a full-time basis. Dravid said that he enjoyed the experience but had not thought about the road ahead in terms of his coaching journey.

"I have enjoyed this experience. You know, look, I have not really thought anything far ahead. You know, to be honest with you I am happy doing what I am doing. For me, I haven't given any other thought than this tour and getting through this tour," Dravid said at the virtual post-match conversation after the third T20I.

Team India won the ODI series 2-1 but lost the T20I series 1-2 to Sri Lanka. The team was plagued with a COVID-19 case which forced them to play with the only 11 available players for the last 2 T20I matches impacting the balance of the XI severely.

"I have enjoyed the experience and I have loved working with these guys. It's been great. And no, I haven't given any other thought to anything else. There are (a) lot of challenges doing a full-time role, so I really don't know," quipped Dravid on working with the youngsters.

Head coach Ravi Shastri, who is with the Test team in England, his stint will come to an end after the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
