Cricketers and critics all over the world are praising the heroics from Team India as they won the second ODI against Sri Lanka on Tuesday (20th July). The match got all the attention after India was reduced to 193/7 chasing 276 and with 83-runs still to get, it all seemed over in the run chase.

But an unbeaten 84-run partnership between Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the 8th wicket brought all the limelight over Chahar, the batsman as not only raised his maiden fifty but also rescued India from jaws of defeat.

Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria, on his YouTube channel 'Danish Kaneria 261', lauded the Agra based Indian pacer after his brilliant match-winning performance with both bat and ball.

Kaneria urged the Pakistan team players to learn from the Chahar, as the Pakistan team lost the T20I series to England.

“Full credit to Deepak Chahar. Pakistan’s batsmen should learn from him. Deepak Chahar took the game till the very end. He stood at the wicket, rotated the strike smartly, and picked up the odd boundary here and there. Chahar had that key partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the end. Although Kumar only scored 19, it was as good as a 50 on the day.” he said.

Kaneria also highlighted the significance of Chahar playing under the leadership of MS Dhoni for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team in IPL. He said that Chahar followed Dhoni’s philosophy of taking the game till the end and got the results which Dhoni almost always used to get.

“Thanks to Chahar and Kumar, India won the series and now we could see some changes in the final ODI. But today (Tuesday) was Chahar’s day. He first claimed two wickets and then batted very sensibly. He did not play any unnecessary shots and applied MS Dhoni’s philosophy of taking the game till the end if wickets fall. It was an outstanding performance by India.” the former leg-spinner added.

The third and final ODI of the series will be played on Friday (23rd July) at the same venue. Having already won the series, we might see Team India test their youngsters on bench who have been patiently waiting for their opportunity.
