Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian team performed amazingly well as the Men in Blue snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Sri Lanka in the second ODI of the three-match series at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday (20 July).
After a fine 3-wicket win over hosts Sri Lanka on Tuesday, the touring Indian team also took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Thus, the team had an ‘extended celebration’ in their hotel as the cricketers enjoyed a late-night jam session.
Suryakumar Yadav’s maiden half-century followed by Deepak Chahar’s superb match-winning knock of 69 runs off 82 deliveries took India home. The players after the match relaxed in their hotel room, singing 'Bheegi Bheegi' from the movie Gangster.
Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Krishnappa Gowtham, and a few others could be seen in the video that was shared on the official Instagram account. Suryakumar and Chahar, both were praised for their respective knocks by the cricket fraternity.
In the second ODI, after opting to bat first, the island nation managed to get 275/9 in their 50 overs. The visitors, in reply, were struggling at one stage as the scoreboard read 65/3 before Manish Pandey and Suryakumar Yadav added 50 runs for the fourth wicket to get the team out of trouble.
After Pandey’s dismissal on 37 and Yadav falling to Sandakan after scoring his maiden ODI half-century, the trio of Krunal Pandya, Deepak Chahar, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar proved to be handy with the bat.
Third and final ODI is to be played on July 23.
