Team India won a close encounter against Sri Lanka in the second ODI to get a series-winning lead of 2-0 with one more match to go.
India’s Deepak Chahar who scored the match-winning knock of 69 not out off 82 deliveries took the Men in Blue home and received a lot of praise for his amazing innings on social media.
Former India opening batsman Virender Sehwag who is known for his sarcastic and extremely funny posts on social media praised the right-arm quick’s crucial knock with a meme from Bollywood movie “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story” on Instagram.
Sehwag shared a collage of photos incident from the movie where Dhoni’s school coach praising the wicket-keeper batsman after his international century and wrote the caption as, “Rahul Dravid bhai to #deepakchahar”.
In the second ODI, opting to bat first, the hosts posted 275/9 in 50 overs. In reply, the visitors were struggling at 65/3 before Manish Pandey and Suryakumar Yadav added 50 runs for the fourth wicket to bail the team out of trouble.
After Pandey’s dismissal on 37 and Yadav falling to Sandakan after scoring his maiden ODI half-century, the trio of Krunal Pandya, Deepak Chahar, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar proved their mettle with the bat.
Amid the pressure situation, Krunal scored 35 off 54 balls while Chahar (69 not out off 82 balls) and Bhuvneshwar (19*) shared an unbeaten 84-run stand to take India over the line with three wickets and five balls to spare.
Deepak Chahar’s knock of 69* runs consisted of 7 boundaries and a maximum and was adjudged Man of the Match for his performance which gave Team India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
