Arjuna Ranatunga, the former Sri Lanka captain and 1996 World Cup winner, has been in the news recently after his remark on Indian team that is touring Sri Lanka currently to play limited-overs series.

This is a second-string Indian team and their coming here is an insult on our cricket. I blame the current administration for agreeing to play with them due to television marketing needs,” Ranatunga had told to the reporters earlier this month.

India sent their best team to England and sent a weaker side to here. I blame our board for that,” he added.

Responding to his statement, Virender Sehwag, who is famously known for sharing his unfiltered views on social media, stated that Ranatunga was a bit rude in calling the Dhawan-led India side a ‘B’ team.

“Arjuna Ranatunga was a bit rude in saying that. He might have thought this is a 'B' team but the strength of Indian cricket is such that you can send any team and it won't be a 'B' team. This is perhaps the benefit of the IPL, we have so much talent that we can't accumulate in a single team. This team is equally talented," Sehwag told Cricbuzz during an interaction.

"What he's calling a 'B' team - which we don't accept - if they play against the current players in England, they will defeat them in a few games too," Sehwag added.

Team India is currenly touring Sri Lanka for three-match ODI and T20I series, and having already won the first ODI of the series on Sunday (18th July), Dhawan and Co. has put their first step right as they lead the series 1-0 after a clinical victory.
