Team India on Sunday (July 18) registered an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the first ODI at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
Opting to bat first, the hosts posted a competitive 262/9 in 50 overs. Chamika Karunaratne was the top scorer with 43 not out off 35 balls while skipper Dasun Shanaka (39) and Charith Asalanka (38) chipped in with handy contributions.
For India, Yuzvendra Chahal (2-52), Kuldeep Yadav (2-48) and Deepak Chahar (2-37) bowled economically and picked up two wickets each.
In response, the visitors overhauled the target with 80 balls to spare. While skipper Shikhar Dhawan (86* off 95 balls) and Ishan Kishan (59 off 42 balls) slammed half-centuries, Prithvi Shaw played a dazzling knock of 24-ball 43.

By virtue of this victory, India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
