With a young Indian team led by Shikhar Dhawan taking on Sri Lanka for the upcoming white-ball tour consisting of three-match ODI and as many T20I series, fans are excited about the prospects of seeing Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal playing together after a long time.
While the fans were waiting for the answer, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra in his latest YouTube video said the upcoming ODI series will be the perfect opportunity for Chahal and Yadav famously known as ‘Kulcha’ to play together.
“I don't think there can be a better opportunity than this because why did you play Kulcha together, Jaddu and Ashwin were not taking wickets in the middle overs. Nowadays there is a new problem that you are not taking wickets in the first ten overs also,” Chopra said.
The cricketer-turned-commentator then talked about the pair saying they not only take wickets but also stem the run-flow in the middle overs to return with good economy rates.
“If you don't take wickets in the first ten overs, don't take wickets in the middle overs and you only control, a lot of runs are conceded at the end. Because of that, you had started playing them in the middle so that they take wickets. They took 100 wickets in 25 matches and the economy was also good - 5.5 to 6,” the former India opener said in his YouTube video.
Yadav and Chahal have played 24 ODIs together for the 'Men in Blue'. With an impressive average of 25.67, they have bagged 118 wickets.
As far as Team India is concerned, they will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series from July 18 followed by three T20Is slated to begin from July 25 with all six matches to be played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
