India openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan have played with each other for quite some time now as they represent as well as open the innings together for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Both openers performing consistently was one of the reasons behind the Delhi-based franchise sitting at the top of the points table before the tournament was postponed owing to the COVID-19 outbreak in bio-bubbles.
In his recent interaction on the Star Sports show "Follow the Blues", Shaw talked about his relationship with the southpaw who will be leading the Indian team in the upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka.
“I and Shikhi bhai are opening for the Delhi Capitals, we were good friends before that as well, but after that our bonding has become better because off the field also we spent quite a lot of time with each other, whether it was dinner or chilling in his room,” Shaw said.
“We used to talk a lot and because of that, that bond was seen on the wicket as well. We used to speak a lot about cricket there as well, off the field or in between overs. It is enjoyable to bat alongside him,” he added.
The Mumbai-based batsman turned things around in IPL 2021 as he scored 308 runs in 8 matches at a decent average of 38.50 with an amazing strike rate of 166.49.
As far as the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka is concerned, it consists of a three-match ODI and as many T20I series and was scheduled to begin from 13 July but the series had to be rescheduled to 18 July after the COVID-19 outbreak in the home team’s camp after returning from England.
