Indian cricket team, on Sri Lanka tour, is finally out of the quarantine and head coach Rahul Dravid feels it was much needed after around 17-18 days of isolation. The Indian contingent was in quarantine for two weeks in Mumbai and then had to undergo another 3 days of hard quarantine after landing in Sri Lanka.
Dravid, in a video posted by BCCI, said it's good for the players to get out and set the tone before the series kicks off. India and Sri Lanka will play three ODIs and T20Is each, starting July 13.
"It has been nearly 17-18 days that we have been in some sort of quarantine. Really good for the boys to get out and just get moving a little bit. A nice little area in front of the lawn before we practice tomorrow, we have an open space," said Dravid.
India's fast bowler and vice-captain on the Sri Lanka tour, Bhuvneshwar Kumar said the boys are enjoying their first day out after the quarantine.
"Everyone was excited to come out, fun activities are happening. Everyone is enjoying it, this is the first day that we have gotten out and it is important that team bonding happens."
Team India captain Shikhar Dhawan will be leading a young side with a lot of new faces in the Indian jersey, although they have become familiar because of the Indian Premier League.
Earlier, head coach Dravid had made it clear that their priority on the tour is to win the series and the newcomers will have to make the opportunities count.
