India got whitewashed in the three-match ODI series against South Africa after losing the third and final match by 4 runs. Deepak Chahar brought India close to a win on Sunday (January 23), but he couldn't finish the run-chase.
Going after a target of 288 runs, India got bowled out on 283 runs in 49.2 overs. Chahar, the bowling all-rounder scored 54 off 34 deliveries before getting dismissed by Lungi Ngidi in the 48th over.

Suryakumar Yadav played a handy knock of 39 runs off 32 balls, but he couldn't survive till the end to take India home. India's score read 223/7, before Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah brought India back in the game with their partnership.
But it wasn't enough after the Proteas finally succeeded in getting India's remaining wickets and sealing the series 3-0. The Twitterati expressed their support for Chahar who looked sad and broke into tears after not completing the run-chase.
