Indian off-spinner R Ashwin is known for speaking his mind and it continued after South African captain Dean Elgar survived an LBW call thanks to DRS review. The incident left the Indian team with a bitter experience and is one of the biggest controversies of the ongoing third Test at Cape Town.
In the 21st over of the match, R Ashwin got Dean Elgar trapped LBW and the on-field decision was also given out. Elgar went for the DRS review and here is where things got murky.
While the ball-tracking showed that the ball pitched in line with the stumps and hit Elgar square in the middle, without touching the bat; the Hawk-eye had some other ideas. The ball was shown going over the leg-stump and the decision had to be overturned, saving Dean Elgar.
However, the decision of Hawkeye even led to Marias Erasmus saying that’s impossible, but India captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain KL Rahul took advantage of the stump mic and took a dig at the official broadcasters of the series after the over was completed.
Meanwhile, Ashwin didn’t wait for the over to be completed and went to the stump mic and asked Supersport, who are the broadcasters of the matches in South Africa, to find some better ways to win the match.
Here is the video of the same:
South Africa need 212 runs to win the match and ended day 3 on 101/2 with Dean Elgar falling to Jasprit Bumrah, caught behind Pant. The decision also went to DRS, with India opting for it and it was given out.
