After Virat Kohli missed the ongoing second Test against South Africa, batting great, Sunil Gavaskar said that the Indian Test skipper deserves a huge ovation when he plays his 100th Test match.
Ahead of the second Test match against South Africa in Johannesburg, Team India was jolted as skipper Virat Kohli was ruled out, in what could’ve been his 99th Test match, due to an upper back spasm.
If Virat Kohli would’ve featured in the second Test in Johannesburg, then the next match in Cape Town could’ve been his 100th Test match but now, he is expected to play his 100th match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on 25th February, when India will take on Sri Lanka in home series.

Speaking on air during the Day 1 of the first Test between South Africa and India, Sunil Gavaskar said that Virat Kohli playing his 100th Test match in Bangalore will be a fantastic experience for him as he’s captained RCB in IPL for many years.
He hoped crowds to be present in the stand during that match as the Indian Test skipper deserves a huge ovation.
"The next one is in Cape Town. The 100th Test match will be in Bangalore. And of course, him being the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore for such a long time will be a fantastic experience. We have to see if the crowd is allowed there, that is also important. I hope it is allowed because he deserves a huge ovation from the crowd for his 100th Test," Sunil Gavaskar said on commentary on Star Sports.
Kohli will become the 11th Indian player to feature in 100 Test matches joining the likes of Sachin Tendulkar (200) and Dravid (163) among a few others.
