Former South Africa pacer Morne Morkel heaped praise on the Virat Kohli-led Indian team after they became the first Asian side to win a Test match in Centurion on Thursday (December 30).
India bowled out South Africa for just 191 after setting a target of 305 to win the Boxing Day Test by 113 runs in Centurion on Thursday, taking a 1-0 lead in the ongoing three-match Test series.
After India’s stunning victory in the first Test against South Africa at the SuperSport in Centurion, Morkel said that Team India is by far the best team in the world and is leading the way in Test cricket.
Morkel said on Star Sports: “Well Done. They (Team India) are by far the best team in the world today. In a short time now, you deserve it, they've worked long and hard to support their team that can go and competes away from home.”
He added, “The clear game plan that the bowlers can take 20 wickets; so enjoy this moment. I think it's a special feat to be a part of. For me, India is definitely leading the way.”
Notably, the second Test will be played at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg from January 3, while the third and final Test will be played at Newlands in Cape Town from January 11 to 15.
India and South Africa are also scheduled to play three ODIs after the end of the Test series.
