Former South African cricketer Shaun Pollock talked about Virat Kohli’s dismissal in the first innings of the ongoing first Test against South Africa in Centurion, saying that the Indian skipper must be sitting frustrated at the hotel.

The wait for Virat Kohli’s 71st international century continues as the Indian Test skipper was dismissed for just 35 runs in the ongoing Boxing Day Test, falling to Lungi Ngidi.

Coming to bat at No.4 after losing Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara on two successive deliveries, Virat Kohli looked in great touch and played some fluent drives.

But he couldn't keep himself from chasing a wide half-volley from Lungi Ngidi and managed an outside edge to see himself walking back in the hut for 35 runs.

Speaking to Dinesh Karthik in an interaction on Cricbuzz, Shaun Pollock said that Virat Kohli would be disappointed with dismissal as looked in good touch and was getting in strong positions.

He added that had Kohli not chased the wide-ish delivery he could’ve gotten a big score. He mentioned that the Indian skipper might be sitting at the hotel frustrated on how he got dismissed.

"Looking at his dismissal, he's got to be really, really disappointed. He looked in such good touch; he looked so motivated; his feet were moving nicely and he was getting in really strong positions.

“To have chased that delivery on 35, almost when he was set and looked like he was going to get a big score. I think he must be sitting at the hotel pretty frustrated at the fact that he got out in that fashion," Shaun Pollock said.

Notably, Virat Kohli has failed to hit a century since November 2019 and his numbers in the longest format of the game in the last two years have not been as not promising for a player of his caliber. The right-hander since 2020 has scored only 599 runs in 13 Test matches at an average of 26.04.
