Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Saba Karim was elated to see Virat Kohli enjoying the training session ahead of the three-match Test series against South Africa, starting on December 26 in Centurion.

His comments came after the BCCI shared photos and videos from Team India’s training in South Africa, where the Test skipper was seen having a fun time during training sessions.

Notably, Kohli was recently removed as India’s ODI captain and now the dashing cricketer has only the responsibility of leading the side in Test cricket, and Karim said that the right-hander looks to be enjoying his time with the bat at the nets, having a very light burden on his head.

He further said that Kohli, who has not been able to reach the triple-digit mark since 2019, can now revive his Test career afresh and expects to see the old Kohli in the upcoming Test series in South Africa.

Karim told India News: “It seems a burden has been removed from Virat Kohli's head. He can play with an open mind now; he can revive his Test career afresh. The expectation is that he will dish out performances like he was doing two years back.”

He concluded, “If he bats with an open mind and approach, he can repeat those performances. I have full belief that the form he has shown in the practice sessions, the same form will be seen in the match as well.”
