Veteran Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, on Tuesday (December 7), heaped praise on Mohammed Siraj, saying the young pacer will be India's number one bowler in the coming years while backing him for the upcoming tour of South Africa later this month.

He also picked his possible bowling attack for the Indian cricket team for the upcoming tour of South Africa, where they will play three Tests, starting on December 26, and as many ODIs as possible.

Harbhajan believes that Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah – who were rested for the recent home Test series against New Zealand – would return to the Indian side for the three-match Test series against South Africa.

He also feels the Indian team can pick Shardul Thakur for the South Africa tour.

The spinner also backed veteran spinner R Ashwin and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for the three-match Test series against South Africa, while adding that Akshar Patel could also make the squad.

Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel: “Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj... what an outstanding bowler. In the time to come, he will be India's No. 1 bowler. With him, I feel Shardul Thakur will return because in South Africa you will require a seamer who can bat as well.”

He further said, “Along with them, we shall certainly see R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja playing and perhaps, Akshar Patel could also be seen operating with them.”

Harbhajan also congratulated India on winning the T20I series 3-0 and Test series 1-0 against New Zealand.

He signed off by saying, “Well done to Team India for winning the Test series against New Zealand, who looked a completely different unit than the one which turned out at the WTC 2021 Final.”
