SA v IND 2021-22: CSA announces revised schedule of India's tour of South Africa

The tour will get underway with the Boxing Day Test from December 26

India will play three Tests and ODIs each on the tour of South Africa | GettyCricket South Africa (CSA) on Monday (December 6) announced the revised schedule of India's tour of South Africa, comprising three Tests and ODIs each.

The four T20Is, which were also part of the tour fixtures, will be held at a later date owing to the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus that has been identified in South Africa.

The tour will get underway with the Boxing Day Test from December 26 at SuperSport Park, Centurion. The second Test will be played in Johannesburg from January 3 to 7 while Cape Town will host the third and final Test from January 11 to 15.

After a four-day gap, the 50-over series will kick-off at Paarl. The second ODI will also be held at Paarl on January 21 whereas Cape Town will stage the third game on January 23.

“It is a pleasure for Cricket South Africa (CSA) to confirm the updated schedule for the India men’s tour to South Africa. As announced over the weekend, the tour has been reduced from three series to two; the Betway Test and One-Day International series, taking place from 26 December to 23 January 2022 across four venues, following successful engagement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI),” CSA said in a statement.

“The four-match KFC T20 international series will be rescheduled for a more opportune time in the new year,” it added.

CSA also confirmed that the Test series will be part of the second ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, while the ODI series will form part of the ICC Men's World Cup Super League, the qualification tournament for the 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup.
