The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Tuesday, confirmed that the domestic fixtures will not be held on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day and it will come into effect from the very next season.

BCCI acting president CK Khanna told TOI, “This needs to be addressed. The future tours and programmes committee will have to revisit this schedule. There shouldn't be matches on these two days from the next season.”

Khanna signed off by saying, “The domestic players stay away from the families for much of the season. They need to be with their dear ones on such special days.”

Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board also ensured that the domestic matches do not coincide with the festivals of Diwali and Holi. BCCI took the decision because the players have to spend most of the time away from home, as all Ranji matches are held at neutral venues.
