India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been away from competitive action for nearly a year now. He missed the Asia Cup 2022, the T20 World Cup 2022 and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season due to a recurring back injury.
Bumrah underwent a back surgery in March this year and his recovery process has been going on at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru since then. Recently he played few practice matches to check on his fitness.
He has now received the all-clear from the medical staff of the BCCI and will be returning to action with the three-match T20I series against Ireland from August 18-23. He will also lead the new-look team which will be without several first-choice players.
If things go as per plan for the pacer in Ireland, he is also likely to be included in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup which will kick-start from August 30.
A short clip of Bumrah bowling full-throttle at the nets is doing the rounds on social media. Watch here:
Bumrah is set to depart for Ireland with rest of the team members on Tuesday (August 15). India A head coach Sitanshu Kotak will take over the coaching duties along with other NCA staff members after Rahul Dravid & co. were rested for the short tour.
