The Jasprit Bumrah-led Indian team which will travel to Ireland to play three T20I matches, will be without a head coach accompanying them as reports have suggested that VVS Laxman won’t be traveling with them.
Since Rahul Dravid and his coaching team are currently in the US for the final phase of the bilateral series against West Indies and are not traveling with the T20I side, it was anticipated that Laxman would take charge of the coaching staff.
However, reports have said that Laxman will remain at the NCA and instead a few coaches like Sitanshu Kotak and Sairaj Bahutule will be part of the support staff.
India and Ireland will play three T20Is on August 18, 20, and 23 at Malahide Cricket Club Ground in Dublin.
This series will mark Jasprit Bumrah’s return to international cricket after almost one year as he underwent rehab and recovery at the NCA after undergoing surgery for his stress fracture to the back and missed most of the important tournaments and series for India since September 2022.
This series will give an understanding of how far Bumrah has progressed since his surgery, given his importance to the Indian team for the World Cup 2023.
The team will assemble in Dublin in two separate groups. One batch, currently in Miami for the last two T20Is, will travel from the US. Bumrah and the rest of the contingent will fly from Mumbai early on Tuesday.
