On his India debut, Umran Malik bowled only one over and conceded 14 runs from it in the first T20I against Ireland on June 16. However, the fast-bowling sensation played a key role in India’s thrilling victory in the second T20I a couple of days later in Dublin.

Malik, 22, was tasked with defending 17 runs in the final over of the innings. While the speedster conceded two boundaries off the first three balls, he bounced back brilliantly to secure a four-run victory for the visitors.

Umran also claimed his maiden wicket for India in this match as he dismissed Irish wicketkeeper-batter Lorcan Tucker on 5 in the 14th over. After getting the wicket, Malik looked towards the sky, thanking the almighty for this moment. Overall, he returned with the bowling figures of 1 for 42 in his four overs.

Earlier, India rode on Deepak Hooda’s maiden T20I century (104 off 57 balls) and Sanju Samson’s 42-ball 77 to post 225/7 on the board.

In reply, the hosts fell agonizingly short of the target with skipper Andrew Balbirnie (60 off 37), Paul Stirling (40 off 18), Harry Tector (39), George Dockrell (34*) and Mark Adair (23*) making vital contributions with the bat.
