IRE v IND 2022: "I felt like a finger spinner today," Yuzvendra Chahal after winning Player of the Match in first T20I

Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal on Sunday (26th June) said that it was difficult for him to bowl in the cold conditions and he felt like a finger spinner. 

Chahal starred in India’s 7-wicket win over Ireland on Sunday. In a rain-affected game, where only a 12-over side took place, the wrist-spinner bowled three overs and returned with the figures of 1 for 11. 

Chahal, who was awarded Player of the Match, removed Lorcan Tucker for 18 runs to reduce Ireland to 72/4. He kept the things tight and put pressure on the rest of the batters as the hosts scored 108 runs in their quota of 12 overs.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Yuzvendra Chahal said that it was difficult for him to bowl in the cold conditions and he felt like a finger spinner. 

"Very difficult (to bowl in these cold conditions). I felt like a finger spinner today. Sometimes it's hard, but you have to adapt to every condition," Yuzvendra Chahal said. 

Chahal cheekily quipped that he’s not okay giving a long presentation as he’s feeling cold, because of which he’s wearing three sweaters. He also talked about the playing under skipper Pandya and said that the all-rounder gave him 

"No I'm not okay I'm wearing three sweaters right now. The atmosphere under Hardik is chill, he gave me the freedom to execute my plans," Chahal added.

After Ireland scored 108 runs, Deepak Hooda shined with the bat as he scored an unbeaten 47 runs to take his side home. 

The second T20I between Ireland and India will take place on 28th June at the same venue.
