Following India’s win over West Indies in the second T20I in Kolkata on Friday (February 18), wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant said that he’s completely fine with wherever his team wants him to bat.

Rishabh Pant stole the show with the bat in the second T20I against West Indies. The wicketkeeper-batter smashed unbeaten 52 runs and helped his team take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match series.

Coming in to bat at No.5, Pant bailed his team out of trouble after they lost skipper Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav in quick succession of time. The Indian vice-captain first stitched 34 runs partnership with Virat Kohli and then notched up 76 runs with Venkatesh Iyer to help India post a total of 186 runs on the board.

Rishabh Pant, who scored his third T20I fifty, was also awarded Player of the Match for his heroics with the bat.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Rishabh Pant said that he doesn’t mind batting at any position for his team.

While talking about the dropped catch of Rovman Powell in the 16th over, Pant said that everyone in the circle was looking for that catch. He called the drop as part and parcel of the game.

“As long as the team wants me to bat anywhere, I am fine. I think inside the circle, everyone was looking for that catch (Rovman Powell given reprieve at 38) to be taken and we thought it was Bhuvi’s catch but it happens and it’s part and parcel of the game,” Rishabh Pant said.

Pant said that he doesn’t mind playing the situation. He revealed that conversation with Venkatesh Iyer in the middle and remarked that he always enjoys what he does.

“I don’t mind playing the situation and not only at the death. The more you practice, the better you get. The only thing we were talking was we will play according to every ball. It is never easy to play every game (in bio-bubbles). But this is what I have always wanted to do. I always enjoy what I do,” he said.

Rishabh Pant further lauded Rovman Powell, saying that the right-hander was hitting bullets out there. He cheekily said that at the back of his mind he was happy as the batter will play for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022.

"I think Powell was hitting bullets out there. But in the back of my mind I was happy as well because he will be playing for Delhi Capitals,” he said.

The wicketkeeper-batter has been rested for the third T20I against West Indies. The dead-rubber will take place on Sunday (20th February) at the same venue.
