Virat Kohli might not have performed with the bat in the second ODI against West Indies in Ahmedabad but he took an extremely difficult catch to tilt the match in his side’s favour on February 9.

After Team India posted a below-par total of 237 runs in the second ODI, it was certain that a superlative bowling effort was the need of the hour for them if they had to seal the series.

Indian bowlers started on a positive note as they reduced West Indies to 76/5 at the end of 22 overs. It was then expected that the Rohit Sharma-led side might seal the series within the next few overs.

But Shamarah Brooks, Akeal Hosein and hard-hitter Odean Smith kept the visitors in the hunt and the pressure was mounting on the Indian side. Skipper Rohit Sharma then brought Washington Sundar into the attack in the 45th over and he repaid the faith of his captain by removing the West Indies all-rounder to almost clinch the match for his side.

Smith, who hit 2 sixes, tried to take Sundar to the cleaners. He went for the slog-sweep across the line and only managed the top-edge, that went high in the night sky. Virat Kohli had an ample amount of time to settle underneath at deep mid-wicket. He did fall back but grabbed a sensational reverse cup catch to send the all-rounder packing for 24 runs and tilt the match towards his side.

After taking the catch under pressure, the former Indian skipper was seen celebrating it with a dance step.

After the wicket of Odean Smith, Prasidh Krishna trapped Kemar Roach lbw in the next over to bundle out West Indies for just 193 runs and win the match by 44 runs for his team. The pacer returned with the staggering figures of 4/12 runs and was also awarded Player of the Match. The dead-rubber third ODI between India and West Indies will be played on Friday (11th February) at the same venue.
