The three-match ODI series is slated to begin from February 6 onwards in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and three Indian players – Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Ruturaj Gaikwad — have tested positive for Covid-19.

The New Indian Express reported that the trio's results arrived on Wednesday evening after the entire team underwent a mandatory RT-PCR test before joining the bubble.

The Indian team had landed in Ahmedabad last Sunday and following three-day quarantine, were supposed to start training from Thursday. The entire team tested negative in the first round of the RT-PCR tests upon arrival, the trio has tested positive in the second test taken on Wednesday.

Though the players and the support staff have not mixed together yet, the rest of the squad has been advised isolation and will undergo another round of RT-PCR tests Thursday morning.

A formal statement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaited.
