West Indies named a 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against India. The three-match series will begin from 6th January, followed by the second and third games on 9th and 11th February, with all matches to be played in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
Senior pacer Kemar Roach has been recalled into the side after almost two-and-half years. West Indies have also named Brandon King and Nkrumah Bonner in the squad while the rest of the team is pretty similar to what they played against Ireland.
The 15-member squad will be led by Kieron Pollard with Nicholas Pooran as vice-captain of the side.
Talking about the selection of Kemar Roach, newly appointed chief selector Desmond Haynes said that the right-arm pacer is their leading fast bowler and with him having an economy rate of five, he is good enough to play.

“Kemar Roach is one of our leading fast bowlers and we believe we need bowlers upfront to get an early wicket. Kemar, with an economy rate of five, is certainly good enough to play,” Desmond Haynes said.
Desmond Haynes also said that they want to have competition for places and broaden the pool of players they’ve to choose from. He added that they have selected a good team and are looking ODI series as a part of their preparation for the Cricket World Cup 2023, which will take place in India.
“We want to have competition for places. We want to reach a stage where we have a lot of players fighting for positions. We want to broaden the pool of players we have to choose from. The team we have selected is a very good side and we are looking at this tour as part of the preparations for the World Cup in India in 2023,” he said.
After the conclusion of the ODI series, both the teams will lock horns against each other in the three-match T20I series, which will be played from 16th to 20th February. The visitors will announce their T20I squad on Friday (28th February)
