Virat Kohli has been in stunning form with the bat in limited-overs cricket ever since he came out of his nearly three-year-long rough patch in the Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE.

Ever since the dashing right-hander started to rule the cricket pitch once again last year, he has been on a record-breaking spree in both white-ball formats.

Kohli recently smashed two hundreds in the ODI series against Sri Lanka at home, and the former Indian skipper could not have asked for a better start to the year as preparations have begun for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

After winning the Player of the Series award for amassing 283 runs in three ODIs against Sri Lanka, the 34-year-old said that it was a perfect start to the ODI World Cup year for him.

Notably, he scored an unbeaten 166 off 110 balls, with 13 boundaries and eight sixes, to help Team India win the third and final ODI by 317 runs and complete a 3-0 series sweep against Sri Lanka.

Virat Kohli told Shubman Gill in a video posted by BCCI on its official website: “It has been a great start, been a while since I started the year like this with a hundred and then getting two hundreds in a series and also becoming man of the series.”

The former Indian skipper continued, “I'm just happy that in the World Cup year I'm able to start like this and I know I can be consistent, so when I start like this and start feeling confident, then things usually go well. So, I'm just happy from the team's point of view that I was able to start like this and the team can really gel well as a batting unit.”

Kohli also congratulated Shubman Gill as he smashed his maiden century on Indian soil, He signed off by saying, “You guys (Gill) have been phenomenal at the top. Congratulations on your first hundred in India, you deserve it. You deserved it in the first game as well. (Wish you) many more at home and away.”
