Virat Kohli has been performing brilliantly in limited-overs cricket ever since his return to form in the Asia Cup 2022. India's batting superstar has so far scored three centuries – one in T20I cricket and 2 in ODI cricket – since Asia Cup 2022.
But going by Gautam Gambhir's recent statements, it seems Kohli is yet to impress the former Indian cricketer with his batting.
Well, Gambhir yet again made a surprising statement on Kohli, saying people should not forget how things were in the past by looking at the current form and performance of the Indian cricket team.
The former Indian opener further said that centuries are good for the record, but the focus should be on Team India's collective performance rather than individual excellence while mentioning the team’s ODI series loss in Bangladesh in December last year.
Gautam Gambhir said on Star Sports: “We should not forget that India had lost its last ODI series against Bangladesh. We have forgotten about it. Yes, individual brilliance is important, individual hundreds are important, it looks very nice when it comes to your record that you got your 50 hundreds or 100 hundreds, but you should never forget what has happened in Bangladesh.”
He signed off by saying, “Because that is got to be a huge learning. India's full strength losing to Bangladesh in Bangladesh, I think we should grow from there rather than focusing only on this series. What has happened in the past should not be forgotten.”
